Five Things to Know Today: June 6

Your 411 for a Monday in Macomb.

Don't call information, click into Five Things to Know Today. It's just as informative and much more entertaining:

  1. The weekend's sunshine continues today with only a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m., and a 40 percent chance after 8 p.m. The temperature will reach a high near 83 and a low around 66, according to the National Weather Service.
  2. In recognition of Macomb Township's German roots, we bring you the German Word of the Day: heute, meaning today, is an adverb pronounced [hoyta].
  3. It's prime time for high school graduation, so to all members of the Class of 2011 we wish congratulations! In this week's You Said It (2 p.m. daily), we're asking seniors what their plans are for post-graduation and reminding parents to post their children's accomplishments in the form of an announcement on Patch.
  4. Gas prices are climbing steadily upward again, with the lowest price per gallon of unleaded fuel in Macomb Township available at (26 Mile Road) for $3.97. However, anything less than $4 is not the norm as most gas stations around town boast prices ranging from $4.07 to $4.15, according to MichiganGasPrices.com.
  5. Weight Watchers is honoring Macomb County participants today, including one Macomb Township woman, at the Celebration of Success. The event recognizes participants who have lost more than 50 pounds and collects donations for Gleaners Community Food Bank.
