Funeral Arrangements Announced for Dakota Student
Neeosha Nelson died from injuries sustained in an accident March 15; services will be held next week and a memorial fund has been created.
Funeral arrangements have been announced for Neeosha Nelson, t from injuries sustained in a March 15 accident.
Nelson, 18, was crossing 21 Mile Road at LeGrande in Macomb Township when she was struck by a vehicle going east. No charges have been made. Macomb County Sheriff's Department officials are still looking into the details of the incident, findings of which should be available next week.

“Last week was an emotional week for our Cougar community. The traffic accident on 21 Mile Road Tuesday that claimed the life of Neeosha Nelson reminds us all of what a precious gift life is. Those who knew Neeosha all have fond memories of her caring nature, polite manner, delightful yet strong spirit and kind heart. Neeosha's family has decided to share her gift of life with others through the donation of her organs, so others may live a better life. Through this gift, her positive impact on the lives of others lives on.”
The school had a moment of silence observed in Nelson’s honor on Monday. The Chippewa Valley Board of Education observed a moment of silence at its Monday night meeting, as well.
“With great sadness we report the loss of Neeosha Nelson,” Interim Superintendent Ronald Roberts said.

Visitation will be Monday, March 28, from 2-7 p.m. at Peace Funeral Home, located at 19530 W. Seven Mile Road in Detroit. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home the following day at noon.
A memorial fund has been created in Nelson’s name.
