Grab & Go Kids Planner: Bunnyville, Vernors and the Cat in the Hat

Playful exhibits, fizzy fun, Easter egg hunts and more await you this week.


Where/When: Paint Creek Center for the Arts, 407 Pine St., Rochester; daily through May 14, except Sundays.
Why Go: Be a little playful and enjoy the work of many Michigan artists as they journeyed back to childhood to create wonderful and whimsical toys, fun for the whole family to enjoy.
Pricing: Free.


Where/When: Clinton-Macomb Public Library, Main Branch; Wednesday, April 20, 6:30 p.m.
Why Go: If you love Vernors ginger ale, this event is for you. Dr. Keith Wunderlich will be at the Main Library to share the story of James Vernor and Vernors ginger ale as well as bring some Vernor's memorabilia to enjoy. Plus, glasses of Vernors ginger ale will be served.

Where/When: Stony Creek Metropark; Saturday, April 23, 1-2:30 p.m.
Why Go: Today's fun theme is "Naturally It's Easter (Egg Hunt)," where kids will hunt for eggs, meet the Easter Bunny and make a craft.

Where/When: The Detroit Zoo, 8450 W. 10 Mile Rd., Royal Oak; Saturday, April 23, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
Why Go: Make it a rabbit habit and bring the family down to Bunnyville, where there will be a chance to mingle with the Easter Bunny, play games, win prizes, see a performance of "The Bunny Follies" and more, all at the zoo, no less.
Pricing: $5 and canned food donation (to benefit Gleaners) for non-members; and free for members (but the zoo is encouraging everyone to donate canned goods.)


Where/When: Barnes & Noble; Saturday, April 23, 11 a.m.
Why Go: The Cat in the Hat will be visiting Barnes & Noble for a special storytime event. Bring a camera and snap a keepsake photo of your youngster with the crazy feline.
Pricing: No cost.
