Grab & Go Kids Planner: Candy Land, Easter Egg Hunts and Pond Pals

The best family-friendly events of the week include a life-size Candy Land game, pond pals and lots of eggs-citing fun.


Where/When: ; Tuesday, April 5, 2 p.m., 2:20 p.m. or 2:40 p.m.
Why Go: Kids ages 5-12 will love navigating the life-size Candy Land game set up at the North Branch. Children will draw cards and become the game pieces as they move their way along the board.
Pricing: Free. Preregistration required.


Where/When: ; Friday, April 8, 11 a.m.
Why Go: Bring the kids to Stony Creek Nature Center where they'll join an interpreter for a 1.25-mile hike to a pond where they'll capture some tiny pond creatures with big personalities. If the weather is unsuitable for pond dipping, the program will be held indoors.
Pricing: $4 per child. Call 586-781-9113 to register.


Where/When: ; Saturday, April 9, 10 a.m.-noon
Why Go: The Parks & Recreation Department has invited Mr. E. Bunny to drop in for a little pre-Easter fun, as kids will get to enjoy games, crafts, inflatables, a trip around the Hippity-Hop Trail and a chance to meet Mr. Bunny himself.
Pricing: $4 per person for Macomb Township residents, $9 for nonresidents.

Where/When: Panera, 36808 Van Dyke, Sterling Heights; Saturday, April 9, 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
Why Go: Panera Bread and United Way for Southeastern Michigan are teaming up to present a free family fun day, open to all ages. Kids will have fun with educational crafts, cookie decorating and meeting area author Jim Miller, who wrote A Spider Lives in My Belly Button. In the meantime, parents will learn about free resources available through United Way's Early Learning Communities, a program that prepares children for starting school.
Pricing: Free.


Where/When: Wolcott Mill Historic Center, Ray Township; Saturday and Sunday, April 9-10, noon and 3 p.m. both days.
Why Go: Children ages 5 and younger can enjoy hunting for eggs in an easy and more leisurely manner. They can also make crafts, enjoy a snack and meet the Easter Bunny.
Pricing: $5 per child. Register by calling 586-749-5997. Bring your own Easter basket.
