Grab & Go Kids Planner: Full Moon Flowers, Pow-Wows and Spaghetti Dinners

There are lots of kid-friendly activities planned for this week, including a display of student artwork, a Native American Pow-Wow and a spaghetti dinner fundraiser for an Eisenhower graduate diagnosed with leukemia.

Where/When: ; 8 p.m. May 17.
Why Go: Stony Creek is holding a full moon walk today where those who attend can discover facts about the flower moon and blooms themselves. Meet at the Nature Center. After the walk everyone will enjoy a themed snack. For ages 8 and up.
Pricing: $3 per person. Call 586-981-9113 to register.

Where/When: ; 3-5 p.m. May 18.
Why Go: Glen Eden is hosting a free diabetes seminar, focusing on teaching self-care behaviors, including healthy eating, monitoring blood sugar and other ways to improve the lives of people with diabetes. Refreshments will be served.

Where/When: , 6500 25 Mile, Shelby Township; 4-7 p.m. May 18.
Why Go: A spaghetti dinner fundraiser is planned for , an Eisenhower grad who was diagnosed with leukemia over the winter, while he was a student at Central Michigan University. Nicholson is currently undergoing chemotherapy and needs a bone marrow donor to help him battle his illness. (For more on becoming a donor, visit www.getswabbed.org.)
Pricing: $10 per person.

Where/When: John Armstrong Performing Arts Center, 24600 Frederick Pankow Blvd., Clinton Township; 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m. May 21.
Why Go: L’Anse Creuse Public Schools presents Exhibition of the Arts at the John R. Armstrong Performing Arts Center campus. See student artwork, live performances by choirs, dancers and actors, plus vendors selling crafts.
Pricing: Cost is $5 per car. Refreshments will be sold.

Where/When: Brighton State Recreation Area, 6360 Chilson, Howell; 10 a.m.-dusk May 21, and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. May 22.
Why Go: The Brighton State Recreation Area hosts the 2011 All Nations Veterans Council's “Teaching our Traditions” Pow-Wow, with Native American dancing, music, crafts, dress ceremonies, Grand Entry parades each day, vendors selling Native American foods and more.
Pricing: Cost to attend the Pow-Wow is $5 for adults and children age 13 and older; $3 for seniors and children 12 or younger; and children under 5 are free. A Recreation Passport is required for vehicles entering the park.
