Grab & Go Kids Planner: Music, Sports and Toys

The best family-friendly bets of the week include a boat show, sports cards, toy tractors and something shiny for all.

FAMILY BEST BETS OF THE WEEK


Where/When: 3-9 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Friday and Saturday,  and 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday. The show is at Cobo Center through Feb. 20.
Why Go: Boating is a big deal for Michiganders and this event is great entertainment for the whole family. Dads can browse the boats, kids can meet SpongeBob SquarePants and everyone can enjoy the fun and dream a bit of summer.
Pricing: $12, children 12 and under are free with an adult. Seniors 62 and older get in free on Feb. 14


Where/When: 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17 at Wolcott Mill Farm Center.
Why Go: This promises to be a fun event for kids, as they’ll get a chance to look at and play with all different kinds of toy tractors and trucks. They'll also get some playtime in the heated greenhouse, where toys will be set up. Kids will hear a short story and get to sit in one of the farm’s small tractors so parents can snap a keepsake photo.
Pricing: $3 per child


Where/When: Friday-Sunday at Gibraltar Trade Center North.
Why Go: Gibraltar holds a monthly sports card show, often with a special guest signing autographs. Plus there’s memorabilia, sports cards, action figures and more to explore.
Pricing: $2 per vehicle


Where/When: 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19 at St. Peter Lutheran Church.
Why Go: Whether you’re a mom cleaning out closets and cabinets or you’re someone looking to stock up and save big, this is a great way to accomplish your task, especially with more than 100 tables to shop from.
Pricing: Admission is $1. If you want a head start, you can arrive at 8 a.m. and pay the early-bird admission of $2.


Where/When: 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19 at The Macomb Center.
Why Go: This show has sparkle and sizzle for the whole family. The Aluminum Show has drawn comparisons to The Blue Man Group and Cirque du Soleil, but with more than a touch of silver spectacle.
Pricing: $42 gold circle; $37 house; $15 children 12 and under; $5 discount per ticket for seniors 55+, military, students and Macomb Community College staff.


Where/When: 2-3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 20 at Clinton-Macomb Public Library Main Branch.
Why Go: A free afternoon of live music. Full Throttle A Cappella, a five-member group, brings their harmonies and doo-wop tribute to the library for all to enjoy.
Pricing: Free.
