Grab & Go Kids Planner: Radio Control Aircraft, the Space Race and Cabaret

There are band and choir concerts, a radio control aircraft show at Gibraltar Trade Center and a look at the space race to amuse you and your family this week.

Where/When: , 7:30-8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 22.
Why Go: Enjoy a free concert featuring the Lutheran High School North band and the Macomb Area Community Band. Each band will play three selections and team up to perform "America the Beautiful."
Pricing: Free.


Where/When: The Lorenzo Cultural Center, 11 a.m. on Friday, March 25.
Why Go: The cultural center's latest exhibit focuses on the 1950s. Today the Detroit Science Center will lead students back in time as they discover the Space Race through a multimedia presentation and hands-on activities.
Pricing: Admission is free, although preregistration at 586-445-7348 is required.

Where/When: John R. Armstrong Performing Arts Center, 24600 F.V. Pankow Blvd., Clinton Township, 7 p.m. on Friday, March 25,
Why Go: L’Anse Creuse High School’s choirs are putting on quite the show, Cabaret 2011: Broadway Now. Enjoy students singing and dancing to classic songs from Broadway musicals including Wicked, Legally Blonde, The Little Mermaid and many more.
Pricing: Tickets are $5 for students and $10 for adults at the JAPAC box office at 24600 F. V. Pankow Blvd. or by calling 586-783-6520.


Where/When: Gibraltar Trade Center, 237 N. River Road, Mount Clemens, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on March 26-27.
Why Go: The Radio Control Club of Detroit is holding its 2011 R/C Model Aircraft Show this weekend. Stop in and check out scale models of all kinds of aircraft, from World War I fighters to helicopters and beyond. Chat with club members about this hobby and take advantage of the R/C flight simulator to get a feel for flying a radio control plane. Gibraltar also has a mom-to-mom sale and a gun and knife show going on at the same time, so if bargains or turkey hunting is more your thing, there's that, too.
Pricing: Free, but parking is $2 at Gibraltar.

Where/When: Dave & Busters, 1-2:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 27.
Why Go: Macomb Township Parks & Recreation is planning a Dad and Son Day at Dave & Busters. Fathers can enjoy a fun-filled day afternoon with their sons, which includes Power Card, organized team-building activities, a keepsake photo and lunch.
Pricing: $16 per person for Macomb Township residents, $21 for nonresidents. Call 586-992-2900.
