Happening This Week: A Night at the Symphony, Fall Fun and Used Book Sales

Where/When: The Mirage, 16980 18 Mile Road, Clinton Township; 6-10 p.m. Oct. 12.

Why Go: Think pink. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and Mount Clemens Regional Medical Center and the Ted B.Wahby Cancer Center are hosting a very special event, BRAvo Night, to raise awareness for and offer support to those affected by breast cancer. Guests will enjoy appetizers, a BRAtini bar and cocktails, plus two auctions–a silent one featuring the top 12 decorated bras from an online vote, plus a live auction of celebrity-autographed bras, which include Kid Rock, Taylor Swift and more.

Where/When: Clinton-Macomb Public Library-Main Branch, 40900 Romeo Plank, Clinton Township; noon-8 p.m. Oct. 13, 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Oct. 14-15, and 1:15-3:15 p.m. Oct. 16.

Why Go:  Shop for bargains in books, DVDs, CDs, movies and more. On Sunday it's bag day, where $5 gets you a bag of books. 

Where/When: , 8 p.m. Oct. 14.

Why Go: The Macomb Symphony Orchestra presents "Delightfully Danish," its annual salute to the music and culture of Denmark. Highlights include Tov med Posten (Twelve by the Post), a ballet by Riisager, inspired by the works of Hans Christian Andersen; an homage to Denmark’s renowned composer Carl Nielsen; and the music of Niels Gade and his Remembrance of Ossian. In addition, authentic Danish folk art and other items will be on display in the lobby. 

Pricing: $18 adults, $15 students and seniors.

Where/When: , 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Oct. 15 and 16.

Why Go: Wiegand's is holding its Harvest Fest this weekend. Kids will love the petting zoo, with exotic animals, along with face painting and pumpkin decorating fun. There's also the caterpillar maze, straw tractor and other fun. Food will be available for purchase, too, including hot dogs, popcorn, caramel apples and more.

Pricing: Many events are free, but some activities range in price from $1 to $5. 

Where/When: , 4-7 p.m. Oct. 15.

Why Go: Church of the Covenant and Bethel Macomb are holding their fall festival and chili cookoff. Enjoy salad, refreshments, plus chili, along with a bonfire, hayride, bounce house, games and more.

Pricing: No charge to attend. 

Where/When: Anton Art Center, 125 Macomb Place, Mount Clemens; 1-4 p.m. Oct. 16.

Why Go: Free Family Fun returns to Anton Art Center. Families are invited to drop in and take part in two craft projects, with the themes being Ghostly Graveyards and Mask-Making.

Pricing: Events are free, but the center will accept donations in support of its programming.
