Happening This Week: Bike Night, Fairy Fest, ComicCon

Whether you need some fun in the sun, a concert at dusk or a sprinkle of pixie dust to add sparkle to your week, look no further: Patch has you covered.


Where/When: Cheli's Chili Bar, 41240 Hayes, Clinton Township; 6 p.m.-midnight July 18.
Why Go: If bikes get you revved up, head over to Cheli's Chili Bar for fun every Monday, including food, drink specials and like-minded folks.

Why Go: It's the final week for Rosco's summer fun in the park. Bring the whole family and enjoy the kid-friendly entertainment. Today it's time for Rosco's carnival, with games, prizes, inflatables, plus a visit from the sheriff and fire departments and the recreation department's Freckle the Frog. Patch will be manning the bubbles, so be sure to stop by and enjoy the suds.

Why Go: Enjoy a treat without the heat at this No-Bake Cooking Class for kids. They'll make fun summer snacks while keeping cool. Please note: Peanut butter will be used.

Why Go: Sign up for this informative four-hour camp and learn how settlers lived and worked in the 1820s. You'll find out what they did to survive and how they amused themselves.

Why Go: Enjoy a summer concert outdoors. Bring a blanket or lawn chairs and chill out, or head over to the dance floor and kick up your heels to tonight's band: Groove Council, which will be playing a mix of horn-driven R&B jams. Kids can have fun in the KiDzOnE among the inflatables, play games and more. Refreshments will be available.

Why Go: Enjoy a free concert—with park admission (normally $5 per car)—at Stony Creek, as Air Margaritaville plays Jimmy Buffet tunes for the crowd. It's advised to arrive early for the best seats and feel free to bring a chair or blanket to relax upon.


Where/When: 49 Macomb Place, downtown Mount Clemens, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. July 23.
Why Go: Mount Clemens has a new event full of pet-friendly fun: the Dog Days of Summer. Bring your four-legged friends and enjoy the pet parade, vendors and special sales, plus pet rescue and adoption events. You can also get your pet fitted with an ID, have him groomed and massaged, or you can check out the obedience demonstrations. Plus there's the Scooby Mystery Program for kids, part of the .

Why Go: It's a wee bit of a hike, but then again, not really that far to the land of faerie. Enjoy a magical afternoon at the Ford House as the Fairy Tale Festival sets up camp for one glorious day. Guests will meet life-size fairytale characters, be able to have a treat at the Mad Hatter's tea stand, become a living pawn on a life-size chessboard, play croquet against the Queen of Hearts, visit the petting zoo, hear stories, music, theatrical endeavors and much more.

Where/When: Clinton-Macomb Public Library-Main Branch, 40900 Romeo Plank, noon-4 p.m. July 23.
Why Go: The Main Branch of the library is holding a Teen ComicCon event for teens in grades 6-12. They're invited to dress as their favorite manga, anime, video game or literary character. Prizes will be awarded for best costumes, plus there will be games, snacks, videos and anime drawing lessons by a local artist.
