Happening This Week: Golf, Fash Bash and Stargazing

Whether you fancy some stargazing or classic rock jams, there's something for everyone happening this week.


Where/When: Clinton-Macomb Public Library-Main Branch, 40900 Romeo Plank, Clinton Township, 10 a.m.-noon Aug. 9.
Why Go: Check out great book bargains and support your local library and literacy programs at this mini used-book sale.


Where/When: , 1:30-2:30 p.m. Aug. 9.
Why Go: Youngsters will have a blast at this party that brings the summer reading program to a close with "Scheer Magic."
Pricing: Free, but registration is required.


Where/When: , 5 p.m.-1 a.m. Aug. 12.
Why Go: Make Friday a fashionable day as Empire Lounge and Posh Palace Boutique host a Hot as Hell Fash Bash. Models will strut the latest styles, hairdos and makeup. DJ Chrome will provide the soundtrack and guests can enjoy dinner, cocktails and specials.

Where/When: Ray Township Park, 64255 Wolcott Road, Ray Township, 6 p.m. Aug. 12.
Why Go: Enjoy a free night of family fun, thanks to Park*It. Kids can get their faces painted, bounce on inflatables, meet kiddie characters and more. At 6:30 p.m. the George Brothers Band performs classic rock tunes and at 8:15 p.m. the movie Megamind will be shown.
Pricing: Free.


Where/When: 's Historic Center, 9:30 p.m. Aug. 12.
Why Go: It's that time of year when the Perseid Meteor Shower is visible, perfect for some summertime stargazing. Head to the Historic Center for time by the bonfire, a craft, a walk and some meteor and star facts.
Pricing: $5 per adult and $2 per child. Park entry also required, $5 for a daily vehicle pass or $25 for an annual one. Call 586-749-5997 to sign up.

Where/When: , 9 p.m.-1 a.m. Aug. 12-13.
Why Go: Enjoy live music close to home and hear the hits of today and yesterday. On Aug. 12 David Ladd performs and on Aug. 13, get ready for "Ozzie."
Pricing: No cover.


Where/When: , 8 p.m. Aug. 13.
Why Go: St. Isidore Catholic Church is hosting a family night at the movies. A liturgy will be held on the lawn at 6:30 p.m. and at 8 p.m. Toy Story 3 will be  shown. Refreshments will be available. Bring a blanket or chairs and enjoy the free show.
Pricing: Free.


Where/When: Bruce Hills Golf Course, 6771 Taft Road, Bruce Township. Sign-in is at 10 a.m. Aug. 14.
Why Go: Hatchy's Bar is holding its 8th Annual Golf Outing Sunday, Aug. 14 at Bruce Hills Golf Course. This year Hatchy's is donating all proceeds to 16-year-old Taylor Draper, who has been diagnosed with stage 4 Medulloblastoma brain cancer. All monies raised will help the Draper family with medical and living expenses. Donations are tax deductible.
Pricing: $100 per person and includes 18 holes of golf, lunch at the turn, prizes, contests and a five-course steak dinner at Hatchy's.
