Happening This Week: Gratiot Cruise, Margaritaville Concerts and Rock Climbing

Cruise Gratiot, enjoy some outdoor jams, a movie under the stars and more this week.


Where/When: , daily.
Why Go: Get a grip and take this fun challenge at Stony Creek, with the rock climbing wall set up through Aug. 11.
Pricing: $2 per climb. A daily car pass to the park is $5, if you don't already have an annual pass ($25 or $15 for seniors).


Where/When: 7-8:30 p.m. Aug. 4.
Why Go: It's the final "Sizzlin' Summer Nights" for the season, rescheduled from last week. Bring blankets and lawn chairs and enjoy live music outdoors. Tonight's act is Jimmy Buffett tribute act Air Margaritaville. There will also be a dance floor set up so anyone inclined can cut a rug. Kids can enjoy fun in the KiDzOnE inflatables, games and more. Stop by the bubble zone to shape some crazy suds with Patch Editor Jenny Whalen. Refreshments available.
Pricing: Free.


Where/When: , 7:30 p.m. Aug. 5.
Why Go: Enjoy a movie and music under the stars at the park. The fun begins with a concert by Guy Louis and the Chautauqua Express, who'll perform family-friendly fare, and then at 9-ish (at dusk) the movie begins (Despicable Me).

Where/When: Downtown Mount Clemens, 7:30-11 p.m. Aug. 5
Why Go: Enjoy a free summer concert in downtown Mount Clemens. Jimmy Buffett tribute group Air Margaritaville will perform on the Riverfront, at Northbound Gratiot and Crocker, capping off the Bud Light Riversight & Sound Concert Series. Then feel free to hear some acoustic rock by The Allies, who'll perform at the Fountain Stage along Macomb Place between Walnut and Pine starting at 9:30 p.m.
Pricing: Free.


Where/When: Metro Beach Metropark, 31300 Metro Parkway, 10:30 a.m. Aug. 6.
Why Go: If you're a fan of Fords or classic cars in general, you'll love the 11th annual “Bash at the Beach” car show, presented by Fairlane Club of America. More than 150 classic Ford and Mercury car owners are expected to cruise into the park in the morning and linger into the evening, weather permitting. Besides enjoying classic cars, visitors can enjoy all that Metro Beach has to offer, including trails, the water park and miniature golf.
Pricing: Car show is free, with vehicle entry permit, which is required to enter any Metropark. Those run $25 annually for regular admission, $15 annually for seniors or $5 daily. Where/When: Along Gratiot Avenue from 14 Mile to Wellington Crescent, Clinton Township, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Aug. 7.
Why Go: Celebrate our car culture—we are part of the Motor City, after all—with a souped-up celebration at the ninth annual Clinton Township Gratiot Cruise. There's free fun for the whole family, with classic cars on display, live bands, parties, food and more. Plus Cruise Headquarters at Gratiot and 16 Mile will have inflatables, crafts, face painting and more. There's also a parade planned at noon.
