Macomb Corners Park Still Open, But Not For Long

Last weekend’s snowfall didn’t close Macomb Corners Park, but its days open are numbered, according to Gina Muszynski, Facilities Supervisor with the Parks and Recreation Department. 

The first noteworthy snowfall - snow that sticks to the ground - will cause Parks and Rec to close the park, located along 25 Mile Road. That’s because maintaining the 94-acre park during the winter is a significant job in itself, Muszynski said. 

If the park were to stay open, a work crew would be needed to keep the 1-mile asphalt walking path, the parking lot, and other roadways clear. In addition, the bathrooms are shutdown to prevent pipes from bursting. 

As of Monday, the park was still open from 8 a.m. until dusk. 

“When we get that snow that sticks around, though, that’s going to be it,” Muszynski said. 

In addition to the walking path, there’s a playground featuring swings, slides and a jungle gym. There also two football fields, two soccer fields, three lighted baseball diamonds, an inline skating rink, a picnic pavilion, a concession stand and restrooms. Pets are allowed, but must be on a leash. Ample free parking is available.
