Police Arrest 3 Adults, 1 Teen With Stolen Goods, Loaded Shotgun in Macomb Township

Suspects from New Baltimore, Chesterfield Township, Macomb Township and Clawson face larceny and home invasion charges.

Four individuals, who were found with a slew of stolen electronics, liquor and a loaded shotgun, face criminal charges stemming from break-ins in Macomb Township, police said Friday.

At approximately 4 a.m. June 7, a delivery person from The Macomb Daily reports seeing a suspicious person on a residential street in Buckingham Village Subdivision of Macomb Township. A deputy found the man walking on Cheddleton Drive, according to the Macomb County Sheriff's Office.

After detaining the man, who had a portable GPS system in his pocket, police tracked down three other suspects and a parked gray 2007 Ford Focus on Vesper Drive. Deputies found another GPS unit, several cell phones, iPad, marijuana pipe, a loaded shotgun, flat-screen television, DVD player and several bottles of liquor, the Sheriff's Office states.

The items were allegedly snatched from unlocked vehicles in the area, police said.

The three adults were lodged in Macomb County Jail and a teen with them was turned over to his mother, pending juvenile petition proceedings.

Later that afternoon, deputies responded to a breaking-and-entering report at 23 Mile near Card. Homeowners told police that they spent the night away and they learned someone broke into their home through an entry door in the garage. Police soon realized items stolen from their homes matched some of the goods found in the suspects' car, police said.

“Here is another example where a citizen became involved and shared her suspicions with our police agency. This is a classic example of what can be accomplished when citizens and the police work together to solve problems," Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham said in a statement.

The suspects were identified by police as:

  • Zackory Bakeman, 20 of Clawson, was arraigned Monday with stolen property-receiving and concealing, a five-year felony, and minor in possession of alcohol.
  • Nathan Myers, 20 of New Baltimore, was charged with stolen property-receiving and concealing and minor in possession of alcohol.
  • Joshua LaBranche, 20 of Chesterfield Township,  charged with stolen property-receiving and concealing and minor in possession of alcohol.
  • The 16-year-old boy from Macomb Township faces similar charges.
On Friday, the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office authorized additional charges  for the three adults on a charge of second-degree home invasion, a 15-year felony. The minor also faces a home invasion charge in juvenile court.
