Team SuperSam Hosts Golf Scramble to Benefit St. Jude

All proceeds from the Aug. 27 golf outing at Hickory Hollow will benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Preparing to run its fourth this year, Team SuperSam is ramping up its summer fund-raising efforts with an Aug. 27 Golf Scramble at .

All proceeds from the outing will benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital when Team SuperSam travels to Memphis, TN, in December to participate in the annual St. Jude Marathon.

The $90-per-golfer participation fee includes the game, snacks, beer and pop on the course, raffles, an awards ceremony and a sit-down dinner. To attend dinner only is $25.

Golfers and dinner-only guests who register and pay by Aug. 8 will receive an arm's length of free raffle tickets and a Golfsmith gift card.

The final deadline to register for the outing is Aug. 20.

Individuals or businesses can sponsor a table at the outing for $100 and a premium hole for $250.

Golfers will tee off with a shotgun start at 1 p.m.

The Start of Team SuperSam

On Feb. 25, 2008, the Jones family lost their son Samuel to diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma, an inoperable brain cancer.

Samuel's mother, Rebecca Jones, started Team SuperSam to support and raise money for child cancer research.

Jones has led Team SuperSam through three , and the team is planning its fourth run this December.

Since the team’s first marathon, Team SuperSam has raised almost $40,000 for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

The net operation proceeds from the race benefit St. Jude directly. Donations are also tax deductible.
