This Week's Events: Stars and Stripes Festival, Family Fun Nights and More

Something for everyone here, from rock music to reclining and watching a movie under the stars.

Where/When: ; 2 p.m. June 27.
Why Go: Kids will enjoy these flights of fancy with free paper airplanes fun at the North Branch of the library. They'll learn to make various styles of paper airplanes in this hands-on craft program. Registration is required.
Pricing: Free.

Where/When: Macomb Town Center, 54111 Broughton Rd.; 6 p.m. June 28.
Why Go: Park-It for family fun and enjoy a memorable night with the whole family, with music, a movie and more. Best of all, it's free. Favorite characters will amuse the youngsters, along with a bounce house and face painting will. At 6:30 the music starts with Mainstream Drive, who will perform classic rock. The flick that's been picked is Megamind, and it starts at 8:15 p.m.

Where/When:  ; 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. June 28. 
Why Go: Rosco's in the house–or rather, the park–with his Picnic Palooza Series, where families and their children can enjoy summer fun and games. Each week has a special theme, including today's Cirque Amongus Show, where the audience can get involved, and enjoy tightwire acts, the rolling globe and juggling. Afterward, be sure to stick around for fun in the KiDzOnE, with fun and games and inflatables. If it rains, head to the Recreation Center for fun. Also happening that day, from 11-11:30 a.m. and from noon-1:30 p.m. is the Kids Yard Sale.

Where/When: Clinton-Macomb Public Library, Main Branch, 40900 Romeo Plank; 9 a.m.–noon June 30.
Why Go: Come to the Main Branch of the Clinton-Macomb Public Library and create your own world on a sidewalk square. Bring your own chalk, and the library will provide the sidewalk. Program is for children ages 4-12. Registration is required. Visit www.cmpl.org.
Pricing: Free.

Where/When: ; 2 p.m. June 30.
Why Go: Teens, sign up for sticky, creative fun with duct tape crafts at the North Branch of the library.
Pricing: Free, but register at www.cmpl.org.

Where/When: Downtown Mount Clemens, July 1-4.
Why Go: Get ready for four days of fun at Stars and Stripes, where thousands will converge to enjoy live music, a carnival and fireworks. The music acts alone are a highlight, with Ace Frehley from KISS, Sweet of "Ballroom Blitz" fame, Soul Asylum, Smash Mouth, Tonic, Rick Springfield and others headlining.
Pricing: The Stars and Stripes Festival is free, but concertgoers have a chance to buy VIP tickets at all Ticketmaster outlets or by visiting www.ticketmaster.com and by calling 248-645-6666.
