A change in command at Mohawk Elementary, a Macomb-based band on the rise, a round-up of this week's activities about town and more in Today's News Fast.

  • It wouldn't be summer without a chance of thunderstorms, which we have this morning. It will be mostly sunny, with a high near 91 degrees, until the clouds roll in this evening and drop the temperature to a low around 69 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
  • Formerly an assistant principal at Algonquin Middle School, Christopher Gardner will be appointed the new principal of Mohawk Elementary at tonight's Chippewa Valley school board meeting, which begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Administration Building on Cass Avenue in Clinton Township. 
  • Comprised of Macomb Township teens, easycore band "The Directive" recently released its first EP, Sleepless, and is qucikly climbing the iTunes charts.
  • What to do this week? How about the 9th annual Clinton Township Gratiot Crusie or a movie under the stars in the park? These activites and more can be found in "What's Happening This Week." Most of these activities and events are free and all are local.
  • In recognition of Macomb Township's German roots, we bring you the German Word of the Day: deshalb, meaning therefore, is an adverb pronounced [des-halp].
