Today's News Fast: Aug. 25

Best of luck to our local high school football teams heading to their first games of the 2011 season tonight.

  • Today will be mostly sunny, with a high near 77 degrees. It will be a bit windy during the morning and afternoon, with gusts as high as 22 mph. The evening rolls in mostly clear, with a low around 55 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
  • The Republican Committee of Northern Macomb County and will host more than 300 local politicians and supporters Aug. 30 for the 2011 Reagan Leadership Dinner. This event is a fund-raiser for the committee to support candidates in the 2012 elections.
  • The 2011 high school football season officially kicks off tonight as Dakota and L'Anse Creuse North travel to Muskegon and Rochester, respectively, in their first matchups of the season. Patch will be following the games, but you can and scores to Macomb Patch, too.
  • Macomb Township will extend its contract with Waste Management for another three years, but here's why.
