What you need to know heading out the door: Free 7.11-ounce Slurpees will be available at all 7-Eleven stores through midnight today, the Chippewa Valley school board meets tonight and Pottermania starts this week.

  • Make sure your air conditioner is in working order ladies and gents, because today will be partly sunny, with a high temperature near 91 degrees. There is a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms for most of the day. Things will cool down a bit tonight with a low around 68 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
  • To join the 7-Eleven birthday celebration, we're giving away two $10 gift cards to help quench your Slurpee thirst.   • The Chippewa Valley Board of Education's meeting is tonight at 6:30 in the Administration Building on Cass Avenue. Items on tonight's agenda include: new computer systems for the International Academy of Macomb and almost $2 million in technology purchases for the district's IP Video Solution project.
