Today's News Fast: July 15

Golf, auto racing, wrestling, weather and German ... sounds like a really strange high school class schedule, but it's actually your news fast.

  • Temperatures are starting to creep back up today with a high near 82 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. We'll hit the 90s from here on out, so enjoy the partly sunny skies and low around 63 degrees today. Stay hydrated, keep your pets in the shade, not in the car, and wear lots of sunscreen!
  • The first wrestling program for children with cerebral palsy is on the brink of starting in Macomb Township, but more participation is needed. A one-week wrestling camp is set to start Monday, and a few more interested persons could secure the program's place in the township and county.
  • 'Tis a beautiful day to test the greens. Patch reporter and golf enthusiast John McTaggert offers his take on teeing off at Hickory Hollow. Are you an avid golfer? Tell us what courses we need to visit!
  • Local Lutheran High School North student, Taylor Ferns, is racing her way into U.S. Auto Club history as the winningest female feature driver in the club's history. Oh yeah, she's only 15, too.
  • In recognition of Macomb Township's German roots, we bring you the German Word of the Day: Regenmantel, meaning raincoat, is a noun pronounced [raygen-mantle].
