Today's News Fast: July 25 (Christmas in July)

The first of the Kutchey Family Farm's sweet corn arrives at the 26 Mile Road market, a local little league softball team claims a state championship and a photo of "your Patch of Michigan" enters you to win one of several amazing prizes.

Happy Christmas in July!

  • It'll still be a sunny 83 degrees today, but the triple-digit temperatures of last week's heat wave appear to be behind us. The evening will come in clear with a low around 63 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
  • The Kutchey Family Farm Market is a mainstay in the Macomb Township community, selling dozens of different farm-fresh fruits and vegetables every summer and fall. Patch recently met with owner Joe Kutchey to get a firsthand look at the 250 acres where the Kutchey market's produce is grown.
  • It's a photo contest! Show off your finest photos, from Up North to your own backyard and we'll award weekly prizes for the photos that say "Michigan" in content, tone and spirit. To learn how to enter Your Patch of Michigan, click here.
  • Congratulations go out to the girls of the Shelby Township 11U Little League softball team, which includes many Macomb Township ladies, who helped lead the team to Shelby Township's first-ever girls championship title.
  • In recognition of Macomb Township's German roots, we bring you the German Word of the Day: Lebensmittel, meaning groceries, is a noun pronounced [lay-bens-mittel].
