National Milk Chocolate Day, Jimmy Buffett tribute concert at Town Center Park, another heat wave and the elimination of crossing guards at Ebeling Elementary.

Happy National Milk Chocolate Day! According to Holiday Insights, this is the day all are encouraged to indulge in the sweet stuff. Chocoholics unite!

  • Heat index values were expected to be as high as 100 degrees today, but last night's thunderstorms have cooled things down quite a bit. The high will top out at around 85 degrees and more showers and thunderstorms will follows us into the evening, according to the National Weather Service
  • Who should provide crossing guards at Ebeling Elementary School? Neither the district nor Macomb Township will provide this service in 2011-12–a decision Ebeling parents are less than happy with.
  • The TV commercials tell us a new bridge to Canada is a bad idea. The governor's office says a new bridge is needed to increase trade and create jobs. Ask your own questions at the town hall meeting held tonight at the MISD by Lt. Gov. Brian Calley and State Reps. Anthony Forlini and Marilyn Lane.
  • Tonight's the final "Sizzlin' Summer Nights" concert for the season, featuring Jimmy Buffett tribute act Air Margaritaville. The concert begins at 7 p.m. at the Town Center Park. Come to groove or bring the kids to enjoy the KiDzOnE with games, inflatables and a bubble zone hosted by Patch!
