Today's News Fast: June 29

We're whetting your news appetite with some fast facts about deals, weather, events and more happening today in Macomb.

  1. Are you sitting down for this? The weather forecast for today is "sunny!" Not partly sunny, or sunny with a chance of precipitation, just plain old sunny with a high near 76 degrees. Those pesky clouds will stay away tonight, too, giving us mostly clear skies and a low around 55 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. 
  2. In recognition of Macomb Township's German roots, we bring you the German Word of the Day: beenden, meaning to finish, is a verb pronounced [be-enden].
  3. Wednesday is Deals Day at Macomb Patch, so click into "This Weeks Deals to Save Macomb Moola" for coupons and specials featuring buy one, get one free dinners, desserts and more around town.   4. Hundreds of families gathered in the Macomb Town Center Tuesday night to to enjoy an old-fashioned drive-in movie. In addition to the animated feature, Megamind, playing on the big screen, the band Main Street Drive serenaded guests with classic rock tunes, while face painting, bounce houses and cartoon characters entertained the kids.   5. The are in and we've compiled the scores for Chippewa Valley, Utica and L'Anse Creuse. While all three districts posted proficiency levels above the state's average, individually, the results varied widely. The achieved almost 100 percent proficiency in all test subjects, while fell below the state average in four of the five subjects tested.
