Today on Patch you'll find this week's deals, an overview of tonight's township meeting and a tribute to a local legend, lifelong Macomb Township resident Joa Penzien, who passed away Monday.
- There is only a 20 percent chance of showers this morning, but play it safe and carry an umbrella with you to ward off the rain. We'll see partly sunny skies today, with a high near 70 degrees, so a bit cooler than yesterday. It will really cool down tonight, with a low around 44 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
- Two of this week's deals take us to Partridge Creek, where teachers earn 20 percent off their bill at Brio and Parisian customers receive 20 percent off coupons for donating to Goodwill.
- The Macomb Township board of trustees meets tonight at 7 at town hall. Patch will of course be at the meeting to keep you informed of what's happening in township government.
- Lifelong Macomb Township resident and local legend Joachim William Penzien, known to many as "Mr. Potato," died Monday at the age of 97. Visitation is today at Hauss Funeral Home and the funeral is Thursday at St. Peter Lutheran Church.
- In recognition of Macomb Township's German roots, we bring you the German Word of the Day: kriegen, meaning to get, is a verb pronounced [kree-gen].
