From a stuffed animal drive benefiting young hospital patients to the township's future in manufacturing, we have news you could use today.

  • Today is expected to be one of the coolest days of the week, with a high just brushing 60 degrees. It will be partly sunny in the morning and will clear up throughout the rest of the day. However, you'll want to dig out that comforter if you're planning to sleep with your windows open tonight, we'll have a low around 37 degrees, according to the National Weather Service
  • Macomb County Executive (and Macomb Township resident) Mark Hackel paid a special visit to Wednesday's board of trustees meeting to share his vision for Macomb's economic future. Here's a rough sketch of his plans to make Macomb the "defense capital of the world."
  • The 10th annual stuffed animal drive held in memory of baby Erin Patton, and benefiting young patients at Children's Hospital and St. John's Hospital, is now under way in Macomb and Shelby townships. Here's how you can help.
  • Congratulations to Macomb Township fire fighters, Sgts. Kenneth Bartz and Jason Dumas, who were promoted to full-time sergeants by the board of trustees Sept. 14. The fire department is now looking to recruit two new paid on-call sergeants. Additional information on these positions can be found on the township website.
  • In recognition of Macomb Township's German roots, we bring you the German Word of the Day: diesmal, meaning this time, is an adverb pronounced [dees-mal].
