Today's News Fast: Sept. 19

Today's headlines include the end of a popular library program, special recognition for the Immanuel Lutheran music program, a Red Cross blood drive, school board meetings and, of course, the weather.

  • There is a 90 percent chance of showers during the day, with wind gusts as high as 22 mph and possibly a thunderstorm. Another chance of showers could hit before midnight, and there may be patchy fog after 2 a.m. The high wil be near 68 degrees and the low around 56 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
  • The Chippewa Valley Schools Board of Education meets at 6:30 tonight at the Administration Building on 19120 Cass Ave., in Clinton Township. The L'Anse Creuse Public Schools Board of Education meets at 7 p.m. at 36727 Jefferson Ave., in Harrison Township.
  • Bad news for the area's educational and cultural enrichment, the Museum Adventure Pass program will end Sept. 23 for the Clinton-Macomb Public Library. It will come back next year, but in a very different form.
  • Immanuel Lutheran Church and School is home to a varied and vibrant music program. Throughout the year, students and members of the Immanuel congregation spend hundreds of hours preparing for weekly Sunday concerts and special events. Keep up the music, Immanuel.

  • In recognition of Macomb Township's German roots (and because Oktoberfest started in Munich, Germany on Sept. 17), we bring you the German Word of the Day: Prost or Prosit, is the equivalent of cheers, and is typically used in a toast. It is pronounced [pro-zt] or [pro-zit].
