For those of you celebrating a four-day Labor Day weekend, we can't promise good weather, but we can offer good news!

  • Though we could see a rather rainy Labor Day weekend, things get off to a sunny, hot start today, with a high near 93 degrees. There is a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms in the evening, but even partly cloudy skies won't drop the temperature below 70 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
  • Patch paid a visit to the hard-working members of the Dakota "Cougar" Marching Band this week to hear samples from "The Dark Side of Rock" show the band will premiere at Dakota's home opener this season. We have highlights!
  • Dakota bounced back from last season's loss to Muskegon with a 15-13 win over the Romeo Bulldogs. L'Anse Creuse North wasn't as lucky, suffering a 38-0 loss to Roseville. takes on Royal Oak Shrine at Berkley tonight.
  • Macomb Township's public schools start the 2011-12 academic year on Sept. 6, meaning those big yellow limousines will return to the roads in force. Here's a few tips for motorists and parents.
