Today's News Fast: Sept. 30

It's homecoming weekend, so we're looking to our local high schools for much of today's news.

  • The National Weather Service is predicting a 70 percent chance of precipitation today, so showers are likely before 2 p.m. It will be cloudy throughout the day, and the temperature will fall to around 48 degrees by 5 p.m. The evening low will be around 42 degrees.
  • Happy homecoming! All three Macomb Township high schools have kick off homecoming weekend tonight with parade, court receptions and the traditional football game. Check out the weekend's schedule here.
  • Macomb-based BFF Productions is organizing the from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday at the Ultimate Soccer Arena in Pontiac. If you're a new parent or have toddlers, this is the place to go.
  • The Halloween Hoopla has sold out once again, and there are no tickets available at the door. If you've missed the boat, but are still looking for seasonal fun, be sure to check out our events calendar. We keep it updated with festivals, haunted houses and trick-or-treat events.
  • In recognition of Macomb Township's German roots, we bring you the German Word of the Day: anziehen, meaning to wear, is a verb pronounced [an-tzee-en].
