Township Tree Ready to Shine Rain or Snow

The annual holiday tree lighting and after glow celebration will be held tonight at 7 in the town center, located off 25 Mile Road, east of Romeo Plank.

Macomb Township residents of all ages are invited to tonight to join local officials, friends, neighbors and Santa Claus himself at the annual holiday tree lighting and after glow.

Come snow or shine, the festivities start at 7 p.m. Nov. 30 on the front steps of the , and when Santa Claus and Christmas Carol arrive, more than 7,500 lights are set to shine throughout the center at the flip of the jolly old elf's special candy-cane switch. 

With temperatures expected to be in the low 30s, guests are encouraged to bundle in their warmest winter wear as the first half of the evening will take place outside.

However, once the tree is lit an the carols sung, all are invited to warm up inside the for an after glow celebration. Inside the center, guests can enjoy refreshments, crafts, "carol-o-ke" entertainment, and visits with Santa.

And for the kids who want to make sure Santa remembers everything on their list, the will once again sponsor the . During the after glow, children will be able to write their own letters to Santa and drop them in a mailbox bound straight for the North Pole.

The tree lighting will also kick off the . Collection boxes will be available at the recreation center starting Nov. 30.
