We Remember Memorial Day

Thank you from Macomb Patch to all the men and women serving at home and abroad in our armed forces and to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation.

Memorial Day Events

  • Taps Honors at Local Cemeteries

L’Anse Creuse Middle School-North eighth-grade trumpet students will play Taps at local cemeteries on Memorial Day, May 30, from 10 a.m.-noon.

“All we are doing is performing as a service to the community in honor of those veterans who were laid to rest at the cemeteries,” said Justin Comerford, band director.

The group plans to visit Glen Eden Lutheran Memorial Park East in Macomb, Clinton Grove Cemetery in Clinton Township and Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township.

  • New Baltimore Parade and Tribute

The city of New Baltimore is holding its Memorial Day Parade beginning at 10 a.m. in , 36300 Front St., New Baltimore, MI 48047, at the foot of Washington, and proceeding to City Hall. Children are encouraged to decorate their bikes in a Memorial Day theme and join the parade. Register your bike for free at the rec center.

  • Civil War Remembrance at Greenfield Village

More than 450 military reenactors create an authentic Civil War encampment for an observance filled with parades, artillery demonstrations and heartfelt 19th-century music. Events continue all day Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
