Happy 2012! May the Next 52 Weeks be Better Than the First 48 Hours

Happy 2012! Hope your year started off with health and happiness – and not with two rounds of Vigamox and Amoxicillin.

Happy 2012! Hope your new year is off to a great start!

I will start by saying that I had a wonderful close of 2011. Christmas was the best I had experienced in a long, long time. I felt really positive about the whole year after I wrote 2011 In Review. I was even excited about 2012. I mean, I had stayed up to watch the ball drop with Anderson Cooper and Kathy Griffin. My night was full of laughter – 2012 had to be good, right?

I thought wrong.

Here’s a breakdown of the first 48 hours. It continued with another trip to the
pediatrician on Wednesday to make sure Marie’s antibiotics were working since
she was started to hear a swishing in her ear.

On Friday, I started to see Thomas’ eyes start to become bloodshot and leak. He also complained of his ears hurting.

On Saturday, on yet another trip to the pediatrician’s office, it was confirmed that Thomas did indeed have The Pink Eye and an ear infection.

As if that wasn’t enough, I came down with a low-grade fever and a sore throat. I mean, after four visits to the sick side of the pediatrician’s office, my good health luck was bound to run out.

So currently, we have been prescribed $200+ worth of Vigamox and antibiotics. (And I will also say how grateful I am for health insurance since we only had to pay a fraction of that cost).

Seriously, there should be a law that enforces primary caregivers should be exempt from all illness. I am trying to stay positive, but it’s hard when I am feeling lousy and it looks like Toys "R" Us vomited all over my family room.

But it’s only temporary.

It’s only temporary ... that’s what I keep telling myself.

Because that’s my mantra.

It’s all I got. I can’t go work out at the gym. I can’t put things in order. I just have to sit and be patient and let this pass.

Because it’s only temporary.

I’d love to hear how your New Year is starting out (so I can live vicariously through you). Be sure to show some comment love and share the beginning of your 2012.  _____________________________________________________________________________________
