Kid-Friendly Fourth of July Activities To Do Around Macomb

If you are going to be enjoying a stay-cation during the week of Fourth of July, be sure to check out this list of fun things to do with your kids around the Macomb Area!

If you are going to be around Macomb during the week of the Fourth of July, there are plenty of fun places to go with your kids!  Check out my list of favorites:

This park has great play structures for both younger and older kids. I love the addition of swings! There is also a walking trail around park that goes through a wooded area that is great to sneak in some exercise after play time.

: Need to cool off? Head to Rec Center for open swim. There is also a lazy river and a play structure right in the water!  I love the spacious family changing cabanas.  After the pool, be sure to head to the Tree Tops indoor play structure for some more fun.   You can even fit in a workout while the kids play in the day care area!

Jungle Java: Even though there is a play structure for little ones, it’s further away from main structure. I think Jungle Java is ideal for older kids. It’s a great way to get the wiggles out while staying out of the sun.

Stony Creek Metro Park: This park is already awesome, and now I really can’t wait to try out the new play structure. Here’s a YouTube video of it. The beaches are also fun, and the boat launch area is perfect for a picnic.

: This is one of my staples of summer. The fruits and vegetables playscape is great and not too big, and the splash zone is a fun way to cool off.  I like to relax with an ice coffee from Starbucks and let kids have fun! (Note: The fruits and veggies are closed until Monday, July 2, as a new floor is installed.)

Swirly Top: This is a nice non-chain place to get ice cream. Because it is in Chesterfield Township near the water and surrounded by trees, it feels cooler as you enjoy your cold, creamy treat. My favorite is a vanilla cone dipped in a chocolate shell and rolled in coconut.

Walter and Mary Burke Park (Downtown Waterfront Park): This beach is a little smaller, but it has a great playscape, and lots of swings in the shade. There is also a dock where lots of people like to fish, and there are plenty of places for a picnic. Bonus: it’s close to the cute downtown area of New Baltimore.

Mae Stecker: Located in Shelby Township, this park has a great playground for all ages, and I love that there is plenty of shade. There are tennis courts available as well. Be sure to check out the beautiful Heritage Garden. There is path that goes all away around the pond, and you can also feed the ducks!

Wolcott Mills Farm: This awesome venue is a working farm and a metro park!  You can visit live animals such as horses, pigs, and sheep. You can also see cows being milked. My kids always have a great time here!

Clinton-Macomb Library (Main Branch): This library is AMAZING! There are lots of fun things for kids to do here. There is a puppet stage and a train table, along with a play fire truck, school bus, and boat. There is a wide selection of books, and a play room with plenty of puzzles and toys to enjoy.

What are your plans during for this upcoming week?  Is there anything you would add to this list?I’m always looking for new things to do with my kids!
