What are these BIG ENEMIES? 

#1 HYDROGENATED OILS

I refer to this as FAKE FAT. Here is a history lesson for you. Nobel laureate Paul Sabatier worked to develop the chemistry of hydrogenation in the 1800s, not for the food industry, but to harden soap. Well guess what? It sure is hardening something now–our arteries!      

Did you know that partially hydrogenated Trans fats, saturated fats, and partially hydrogenated vegetable oils fall under the category of Hydrogenated Oil, FAKE OIL. These oils are found in shortenings, margarine, snacks, such as crackers, candies, and cookies, fried foods, pastries, processed foods, and commercial baked goods. It is just a variation of the hydrogenated process.

Here is another one for you: When the label reads ZERO Trans fats, wouldn’t it be safe to ASSUME that there is ZERO Trans fats in the product? If you answered “YES” – WRONG ANSWER. The correct answer is: If a serving has less than 0.5 grams of trans-fat, the label may state ZERO. Yes, that includes 0.49 grams in a serving size. Labeling on food packages has been mandatory since 2006 except for LOOPHOLES.

Become an EDUCATED label reader. Look at the ingredient list for “partially hydrogenated vegetable oils. Do NOT trust the nutrition label stating ZERO trans fat per serving. Best Rule of Thumb: When the label contains any of the hydrogenated oils, KEEP IT AWAY FROM YOUR MOUTHS AND YOUR LOVED ONES!  There are lots of healthier choices out there. Want a cookie? Make a healthy recipe, eat a piece of fruit, have some sesame sticks.

Consuming foods containing trans-fat has been shown to increase the risk of heart disease, raise LDL levels (bad cholesterol), and lower HDL levels (good cholesterol).

#2 SODAS

Phosphoric Acid is an ingredient in pop which leaches and pulls calcium out of our bones. Did you know that from the age of 1 to 28 we are building bone? If we are pulling the calcium from our bones they become weak. So if a child falls they have a better chance of breaking bones. The people of the United States drink more soda than any other country, and we have the HIGHEST rate of Osteoporosis, which are weak or brittle bones. Have you ever noticed some grandmas who have to walk hunched over? Did you know that Phosphoric Acid cleans greasy, rusted car batteries? And, if you soak a nail in phosphoric acid for about 4 days it will dissolve? So imagine what it is doing to your insides! THIS IS THE ENEMY

#3 SUGAR AND SUGAR SUBSTITUTES

The American Heart Association recommends no more than six teaspoons of added sugar per day for women and no more than nine teaspoons for men. Just one can of regular soda has all the added sugar suggested for men.

Do you know how much sugar you consume? The average American consumes 15 pounds of sugar in a month. That is three five-pound bags of sugar in a month.  REALLY?!!

You probably already know that fructose is a sugar.

Dr. Mercola states in his March 23, 2010 blog, “I am convinced that FRUCTOSE is the primary cause of the obesity epidemic in both children and adults.”  

Sweetened beverages and processed foods are the main sources of fructose.

Dr. Mercola also stated in the March 2010 blog: “The sugar industry groups can tout all the misleading propaganda they want, but it won’t change the fact that sugar, and especially fructose, is essentially public enemy #1 for human health.

When you eat sugar, it actually causes negative changes in your genes that last for two full weeks! So indulge in a couple of sodas or splurge on a hot fudge sundae and not only do your genes turn off controls designed to protect you from heart disease and diabetes, but the impact lasts for 14 days!

Then one day we get this BRIGHT idea we are going to use a sugar substitute.  STOP!!! Don’t go there! You are probably thinking, "What is up with this woman?”  These sugar-free products will help me lose weight. Actually, it will most likely prevent you from losing weight and more. I will explain, keep on reading.

I have a HUGE concern with ALL chemical sweeteners, whether it’s Saccharine or Aspartame, the technical name for the brand names NutraSweet, Equal, Spoonful, and Equal-Measure. Did you know that Aspartame was discovered BY ACCIDENT, in 1965 by James Schlatter, a chemist of G.D. Searle Company, who was testing an anti-ulcer drug. Aspartame now also hides under the chemical names of Ace K, and Acesulfame K.

DID YOU KNOW, Aspartame, when heated over 86 degrees (normal body is 98.6 degrees) turns into formaldehyde? That is what they use to embalm dead people.   We are not dead yet, but it is slowing destroying our bodies. 

Here is some information I found posted by Dr. Mercola on Nov. 6, 2011.

“Aspartame was approved for dry goods in 1981 and for carbonated beverages in 1983. It was originally approved for dry goods on July 26, 1974, but objections filed by neuroscience researcher, Dr. John W. Olney and Consumer attorney James Turner in August 1974, as well as investigations of G.D. Searle's research practices, caused the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to put approval of aspartame on hold (Dec. 5, 1974). In 1985, Monsanto purchased G.D. Searle and made Searle Pharmaceuticals and The NutraSweet Company separate subsidiaries.

Aspartame accounts for more than 75 percent of the adverse reactions to food additives reported to the FDA. Many of these reactions are very serious including seizures and death. A few of the 90 different documented symptoms listed in the report as being caused by aspartame include: headaches/migraines, dizziness, seizures, nausea, numbness, muscle spasms, weight gain, rashes, depression, fatigue, irritability, tachycardia, insomnia, vision problems, hearing loss, heart palpitations, breathing difficulties, anxiety attacks, slurred speech, loss of taste, tinnitus, vertigo, memory loss, and joint pain.”

I decided a LONG TIME AGO, not to believe everything I hear or read. If someone told you to stand in the middle of a freeway, “YOU WON’T GET HURT,” would you believe them?
