Dudley Thoughts: Warning of Bacterial Outbreak in Area Dogs
The Detroit News recently reported on a bacteria outbreak in Metro Detroit dogs. The best way to prevent your dog from getting sick is vaccination.
Are your dogs updated on their vaccines?
My mommy recently read an article from The Detroit News, warning pet owners of a bacteria outbreak occuring in dogs within the Metro Detroit area. According to the article, the disease is known as leptospirosis, which is linked to bacteria that resides in the kidney of a host–usually a stray dog–and spreads through urine. Many of the cases found in the area are dogs with pet owners. The bacteria can travel through a dog's bloodstream and typically causes fever, depression and vomiting. The condition can also attack the liver and lead to organ failure. Please click here to read the full article.
Experts suggest the prevention is vaccination. Please remember to keep your pets updated on his or her shots! We will 'ruff' you for it. :)
