L'Anse Creuse Spanish Teacher received the Barbara Ort Smith Award

Susan Buffa, Spanish Teacher at Chesterfield Elementary School, Carkenord Elementary School and Elementary School, received the Barbara Ort Smith Award from the Michigan World Language Association.

CHESTERFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Susan Buffa, Spanish Teacher at Chesterfield Elementary School, Joseph M. Carkenord Elementary School and Francis A. Higgins Elementary School, received the Barbara Ort Smith Award from the Michigan World Language Association. The association gives the award annually to a world language educator who exemplifies a commitment to excellence in the program. It is the most prestigious award a world language educator can receive in the State of Michigan. “It is a tremendous honor to me,” said Buffa, “I need to express to all of you my gratitude to you and to this district for your unwavering support of my involvement with this organization, as well as of the Spanish program as a whole!  As always, I am proud to be a teacher and resident of this district!”
