Former L'Anse Creuse North Principal, Dave Jackson, Dies

Dave Jackson was a longtime principal, coach and resident of Macomb County.

Recently retired principal and current district athletic supervisor, Dave Jackson, passed away this weekend.

L'Anse Creuse Public Schools confirms Jackson died of an apparent heart attack Sunday while working out at his home in Macomb Township.

Jackson, who retired as principal of LCN last year, continued to serve the L'Anse Creuse school district as the supervisor of middle and high school athletics.

Students, friends and co-workers of Jackson have taken to Facebook and Twitter to mourn the passing of their principal, coach and neighbor.

"Very sad day for LCPS," wrote L.c. Boosters on Facebook. "Dave Jackson has passed. Dave was currently the Athletic Director for L'Anse Creuse. In the past Dave held a number of positions in the district at both LCHS and LCN. He will be greatly missed."

In 2009, Jackson was named the Michigan Interscholastic Press Association's Administrator of the Year. He was also a member of the Macomb County Coaches Hall of Fame.

"RIP Dave Jackson. Greatest (principal) I've ever had and one of the kindest souls I've ever met," wrote Nicole Cowper on Twitter.

In an effort to honor the memory of Jackson, The North Star, the student newspaper of LCN, is asking all Crusaders to wear black and gold Tuesday, Feb. 14.

will be held Friday, Feb. 17, from 3-9 p.m. at Gendernalik Funeral Home, 35259 23 Mile Road, New Baltimore.

He will lie instate from 10:30 a.m. until the service begins at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 18, at Immaculate Conception Church, 9764 Dixie Highway, Ira Township.

A memorial Facebook page has also been created to provide a central location for friends and family of Jackson to share their memories and photos.
