Macomb Township Remembers Former Fire Chief Ralph Kaiser

Ralph Kaiser, the township's third fire chief, passed away May 20 at age 86.

As a founding member and later chief of the , Ralph Frederick Kaiser devoted more than 30 years of his life to ensuring the health and safety of Macomb Township residents.

He passed away Sunday, May 20, at age 86.

When the Macomb Township Fire Department was chartered in 1953 as an all volunteer department, Kaiser was one of the first 18 members. He would go on to become Macomb’s third fire chief and hold that position until his retirement in 1989.

He was an active member of his church and avid sportsman who enjoyed spending time outdoors.

He is survived by his wife, eight children, 28 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

“We appreciate his services to Macomb Township,” said Supervisor Mark Grabow, taking note of Kaiser’s passing during Wednesday’s board of trustees meeting. “I had the opportunity to serve under Chief Kaiser and he was definitey the unique man. He will be truly missed by all of us.”

Kaiser was a resident of Armada.

The funeral is Thursday at 11 a.m. at . He will lie instate from 10 to 11 a.m.
