A Michigan woman has been arrested for allegedly biting off  part of her boyfriend’s ear during a fight.

The 31-year-old woman from Macomb Township was arrested Saturday and charged with assault with intent to maim, a 10-year-felony, the Detroit Free Press reports. The woman’s name was not released pending arraignment.

Police responded to a domestic violence call in the 49000 block of Marseilles at 2:45 a.m. Saturday and met with the 36-year-old resident of the property, who said his live-in girlfriend assaulted him during an altercation.

The sheriff’s office said that when she arrived home, the two began to argue. He tried to walk into a bedroom, and she began to punch him in the face and head.

The report said he turned his back, and his girlfriend jumped on his back and bit off the top part of his left ear.

He was treated at the scene by medical personnel. The portion of the ear that had been bitten off was located and he was taken to a local hospital for additional treatment.
