Investigation Continues into 'Suspicious' Card Road House Fire

A Macomb County Sheriff's Fire Investigation Unit was at the scene of the house fire Thursday morning.

With the scent of charred wood still heavy in the air Thursday, the Macomb County Sheriff's Fire Investigation Unit began inspecting the cause of Wednesday night.

The fire is believed to have started shortly after 7:30 p.m., and though multiple Macomb Township engines responded to the scene, it took fire crews more than two hours to douse the fire. Crews were still pouring water into the roof of the home at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham said the home, located north of Hall Road and east of Card, was vacant at the time of the fire. As to the cause of the fire, Wickersham said late Wednesday night that it appeared "suspicious in nature."
