The accident occurred April 9 at approximately 4 p.m. on Armada Ridge Road near Welding Road in Richmond Township, according to Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham.

Early investigation reveals that the crash involved a single vehicle, the victim's 2007 Pontiac Solstice.
Heinz was traveling eastbound on Armada Ridge Road, when he passed another vehicle, lost control of his vehicle, ran off the roadway and struck a tree.

Heinz was pronounced dead at the scene. He was the only person in the car.
Alcohol does not appear to be a factor and a seat belt was used, according to the sheriff's office. Excessive speed appears to have been a factor.
The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau will continue to investigate this accident.
