Macomb County Sheriff Mounted Deputies to Participate in Presidential Inaugural Parade

The two reserve deputies will represent the Macomb County Sheriff's Office during the 2013 ceremonies in Washington, D.C.

Two Macomb County Sheriff's Mounted Division reserve deputies will participate in the 2013 Presidential Inaugural Parade this month in Washington, D.C., according to Sheriff Anthony Wickersham.

As part of the Multi-Jurisdictional Police Drill Team, Reserve Deputies Paula Keena and Anita Schmidt will represent the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office Jan. 21, joining the parade and witnessing the presidential swearing-in ceremony and inaugural address. 

"Of the 2800 applications submitted, The Michigan Multi-Jurisdictional Mounted Police Drill Team was one of two groups from the State of Michigan selected to participate in this prestigious event," according to the Sheriff's Office. "This unit also represented the State of Michigan at the 2009 Presidential Inaugural Parade."

Mounted police officers from the Macomb County Sheriff's Office, Oakland County Sheriff's Office, Wayne County Sheriff's Office, retired Michigan State Police, Clinton County Sheriff's Office, Jackson County Sheriff's Office, Tuscola County Sheriffs Office and the Toronto Metropolitan Police Service comprise the the Michigan Multi-Jurisdictional Mounted Police Drill Team.
