Macomb Teen Hits, Kills Clinton Township Bicyclist

Clinton Township Police report a 16-year-old Macomb Township teen hit and killed a 39-year-old Clinton Township bicyclist Tuesday night.

A 39-year-old Clinton Township bicyclist was hit and killed Tuesday night in the area of Garfield and 19 Mile roads, according to Clinton Township Police.

The driver, a 16-year-old Macomb Township teen, did not see the bicyclist riding in the middle of the road in the dark, reports the Detroit Free Press.

The accident occured shortly after 10 p.m., as both were travelling east on 19 Mile Road just west of Garfield Road, according to police. The cyclist was in the left lane of the two eastbound lanes when he was hit, the Free Press reports.

The cyclist was taken to Henry Ford Hospital and pronounced dead at 10:28 p.m., according to Free Press reports.

The teen, who did stop following the accident, was not cited in connection with the crash and alcohol and drugs are not believed to have played a factor, according to police.
