Macomb Township Man Charged With Assault by Strangulation

A 30-year-old Macomb Township man was arraigned Thursday on charges he strangled and beat his wife, police said. 

Jacob Rizer was charged with assault by strangulation, a 10-year felony; and  domestic violence assault in 41A District Court in Shelby Township. He was lodged in Macomb County Jail in lieu of a $10,000 bond.

According to the Macomb Sheriff's Office, Rizer was arrested around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday inside his home at Westbridge Manor Mobile Home Community after his mother-in-law reported that he was beating his wife of 10 years.

 The 32-year-old victim told deputies that they had an argument and he grabbed her by the throat and pushed her into a wall.  She said she blacked out and, when she woke up, she was on the floor and he was on top of her during the attack, the Sheriff's Office states.
