Macomb Township Man Leaves Loaded Gun in Kroger Cart

Information in this crime brief was supplied by the Macomb County Sheriff's Office. Where arrests may apply, they do not indicate convictions.

A 58-year-old Macomb Township man left his loaded gun inside a Kroger shopping cart around noon Wednesday on 23 Mile, according to the Macomb County Sheriff's Office.

Store management turned over a case containing a camouflage Kel-Tec 9mm handgun and full, seven-round magazine that an employee found, the Sheriff's Office stated.

The gun owner, who is licensed to carry, retrieved his weapon from the Sheriff's Office. He told an evidence technician that he accidentally left the gun in the cart when he became distracted while unloading groceries. The Macomb County Gun Board will review his concealed pistol license, according to Lt. John Michalke.
