Man Arrested After Crashing Car After Using Heroin

This information was provided by the Macomb County Sheriff's Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

A man was arrested Jan. 7 in Macomb Township after crashing his car while under the influence of heroin, according to Macomb County Sheriff's officials.

According to the department, a Macomb Sheriff deputy was dispatched at 5:48 p.m. on Jan. 7 to Hall Road near North Avenue for a report of a traffic crash. The deputy spotted a blue Lincoln MKZ that had run off the road and the driver was slumped over the car's steering wheel, according to the department.

The man told the deputy he had a drug addiction and recently relapsed, having injected heroin about a half-hour before the crash. Sheriff's officials retrieved a search warrant, drew blood and lodged the man at the Macomb County Jail. He had two previous convictions for driving while under the influence, the department indicated. He is charged with operating while under the influence, third offense.
