Man Arrested on Drunken-Driving Charges After Crash

Macomb County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched Thursday to the intersection of 24 Mile and Hayes for a car crash where an involved driver might have been intoxicated, according to Sheriff's officials. 

When deputies arrived, they spoke with a 56-year-old Macomb Township man who appeared to be intoxicated. He told investigators he had consumed four or five beers before driving and that he had taken prescription medication.

The man's red 1997 Lincoln had extensive front-end damage, according to Sheriff's officials. Deputies learned he had four prior drinking and driving-related arrests and his driver's license had been suspended.

Deputies took the man to a local hospital for a blood draw, his vehicle was impounded and he was lodged at Macomb County Jail on a charge of operating while intoxicated, third offense.
