Man Convicted in Macomb Murder Named One of State's Worst Offenders

The Detroit Free Press has named Joseph Reiner one of Michigan's five worst parole and probation offenders, according to Michigan Department of Corrections and court records.

The Fraser man convicted of murdering a 69-year-old Macomb Township woman is among five of the worst parole and probation offenders in Michigan, according to The Detroit Free Press

Using information from the Michigan Department of Corrections and court records, the Free Press named five men, including Joseph Reiner, as the state's worst offenders.

A jury found 29-year-old Reiner guilty of first-degree murder, assault with intent to murder and home invasion on Sept. 14. These charges stem from the stabbing and subsequent death of Joann Eisenhardt on .

Records show Reiner began breaking into homes in 2003 and by 2006, had been sent to prison on four convictions of home invasion and assault. During his time behind bars, he was disciplined multiple times for refusing to follow orders, according to the Free Press.

He was paroled in February 2010 and later admitted he began using heroin the next month. While on parole he was put on minimum supervision, and though he told his parole officer on July 7, 2010 that he had been using heroin, he was never taken into custody.

Despite being placed in treatment centers and finally on a tether, Reiner "continued to ignore required classes," the Free Press reports.

Records show Reiner last reported to his parole officer on Jan. 18, 2011. A week later his mother, with whom he had been living, told police she had not heard from her son in days.

On Feb. 23, 2011, Reiner kicked in the door of Joann Eisenhardt's Fairchild road home, stabbed her in the neck with two steak knives and fled with $2 worth of stolen jewelry.

During his trial, he was linked to at least one other home invasion. He is scheduled to be sentenced on Oct. 31.

Kill this man immediately for the safety of Michigan. What a twisted system that allows devils like this back into our society

Same system that promotes welfare to "help needy families survive". Just like viagra apparently since they both lead to breeding... Welfare is just more effective.

I am tired of hearing about welfare. For God's sake think about the grieving family and the loss of human life. Prejudice and stereotyping is not needed.

I think we're getting a bit off topic here. Let's keep the discussion on penalties for parole violators or the justice system.
