Man Leads Police on Chase, Crashes into Vehicle on Garfield

A 45-year-old Hamtramck man is expected to face charges after he crashed into a vehicle while fleeing police in a stolen car around 2:20 p.m. Thursday in Clinton Township, according to police. 

Clinton Township police and Macomb County Sheriff's Office deputies apprehended to the man after the 1994 Buick he was in ran a red light, entering the intersection at Garfield and Hall and struck a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox, the Macomb County Sheriff's Office said. 

The Sterling Heights couple in the Equinox sustained minor injuries, police said.

The suspect then fled on foot before a K-9 unit tracked him down and took him into custody. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries from the crash, police said.
