• Topping the list was the report of the during the storms on July 3. Within a half-hour, the Macomb Township Fire Department was alerted to house fires on Bluejay Drive, Shenandoah and Cheltenham. responded to help fight the blazes. There were no injuries from the fires, but a 69-year-old Macomb Township man was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation and possible cardiac issues after he kicked in the door of the home on Shenandoah to wake his neighbor who had been sleeping inside.

• Readers were stunned to hear of a July 18 as he was walking through the parking lot of the store at 21 Mile Road and Card. The employee was robbed by an unknown black male in his early 20s. The suspect approached the employee in the parking lot and pointed a gun at the employee, ordering him to “Give me everything,” according to the sheriff's office. The employee handed over a blue bank bag filled with receipts and the suspect fled the scene. The sheriff's office was unable to locate the suspect.

• Another crime story that caught the eye of readers had this headline, . When a federal incitment was unsealed July 13, it was revealed that Paul Anthony “Pauli” Darrah, 47, of Macomb Township, was among 41 members of the Clinton Township-based Devils Diciples Motorcycle Gang. The indictment alleges Darrah, the organization's vice president, was involved in acts of attempted murder, robbery, extortion, assault, and other violent acts.
