Police Blotter: Arrests Made for Steak Theft, Drunken Driving and Assault

The following information was supplied by the Macomb County Sheriff's Office. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Steak thief

On Nov. 3, at approximately 6:42 p.m., Macomb County Sheriff's deputies were called to the Kroger on 21 Mile and Card for a report of retail fraud. Prior to the arrival of police, Kroger loss prevention specialists observed a 32-year-old Clinton Township man conceal four steaks valued at $53.92 in his jacket and attempt to leave the store without paying. The specialists detained the man until police arrived. Checks by police revealed the man had a warrant from the Michigan Department of Corrections as a parole absconder for robbery. The man was taken to the Macomb County Jail and cited for retail fraud and disobeying or hindering a police officer.

Possession of marijuana

On Nov. 15, at approximately 4:19 p.m., a Macomb County Sheriff's deputy stopped a car in the area of 21 Mile Road and Nursery on suspected possession of marijuana. The three 17-year-old Macomb Township residents in the car admitted to smoking marijuana, but all three denied possession, according to the police report. The three were issued misdemeanor citations.

On Nov. 12, at approximately 6:01 a.m., Macomb County Sheriff's deputies observed a 19-year-old Sterling Heights female slumped over the wheel of her car in the area of Bulldog Drive and Barchester. The woman admitted to drinking alcohol earlier. Police issued her a minor in possession and transported her to Macomb County Jail where she was lodged on a $100 bond.

On Nov. 14 at approximately 5:05 p.m., Macomb County Sheriff's deputies observed a driver fleeing the scene of an accident in the area of 21 Mile Road and North Avenue. Once stopped, police administered sobriety tests, which the man failed. The 54-year-old Macomb Township man registered a .15 blood alcohol content on his preliminary breath test and was charged with operating while intoxicated, leaving the scene of an accident and having an improper plate. A second citation was issued for having open intoxicants, failing to used and having no proof of insurance, according to the police report. The man was taken to the Macomb County Jail and lodged on a $500 bond.

Domestic Violence

On Nov. 7, at approximately 1 a.m., Macomb County Sheriff's deputies reported to a home in the area of 54700 North Avenue on a report of domestic violence. A 30-year-old Macomb Township woman told police that her boyfriend, a 38-year-old Macomb Township man, choked and slapped her during an argument. The man left the house before police arrived, so a K9 unit was called in to locate him, according to the police report. The man was later located and arrested for domestic violence assault. He was taken to the Macomb County Jail and lodged without bond. According to police, the man also had an out-of-state non support warrant and Eastpointe Police Department warrant.

On Nov. 11, at approximately 8:50 p.m., Macomb County Sheriff's officers were dispatched to a home in the area of 45000 Pierre Drive on a report of domestic violence. Witnesses told police a 17-year-old Macomb Township resident had made verbal threats toward them and arguments had gotten physical in the past, according to the report. Police arrested the 17-year-old for domestic violence assault and transported the teen to Macomb County Jail.

On Nov. 11, at approximately 11:09 p.m., Macomb County Sheriff's officers were dispatched to a home in the area of 21300 Michelle Drive for a report of domestic violence assault. Police arrested a 23-year-old Macomb Township woman for domestic violence assault after observing minor injuries on the 25-year-old victim.

On Nov. 12, at approximately 10:42 p.m., Macomb County Sheriff's dispatch received a 911 hang-up. Officers were dispatched to 54000 Carnation Drive, where a 35-year-old Macomb Township woman told police her boyfriend, a 41-year-old Sterling Heights man, had shut her arm in the car door and hit her on the back of the head. The man was arrested for domestic violence assault and taken to the Macomb County Jail, according to the police report.
