Police Blotter: Cocaine Possession, Domestic Violence, Drunken Driving

The following information was supplied by the Macomb County Sheriff's Office. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Drug Possession

On Aug. 29 at approximately 2:53 a.m., deputies stopped a 55-year-old Detroit man driving in the area of Hall and Deneweth roads in Macomb Township. Deputies found crack cocaine and a cocaine pipe on the man’s person and arrested him for possession of cocaine.

On Aug. 30 at approximately 9:30 p.m., sheriff’s deputies stopped a 19-year-old Macomb Township man driving in the area of Garfield and Glenmor roads in Macomb Township. Deputies found what they believed to be marijuana in the man’s car and issued him an e-citation for possession of marijuana. The man had a physician certification dated Aug. 23, 2011, from the Department of Community Health Michigan Marijuana Registry, but was not yet at the stage of the application for a medical marijuana card to be in possession of marijuana. He was taken to the Macomb County Jail and released pending authorization of the charges. The substance found in the car was sent in for testing to confirm it was marijuana.

BB-Gun Shots Damage Car on Dakota Property

On Aug. 31, at approximately 9 p.m., sheriff’s deputies received a report of malicious destruction of property. Upon leaving a football game at Dakota High School, a Macomb Township family reported a car stopped alongside them at the light on Cougar Drive and Heydenreich and shot BBs or pellets at their vehicle. Deputies were able to track the car’s license plate to its owner. A 17-year-old Macomb Township boy admitted to firing at the other car but police were unable to locate the gun in the vehicle. The teen was arrested for malicious destruction of property $200-$1,000.

Drunken Driving

On Aug. 24 at approximately 12:55 a.m., sheriff’s deputies stopped a 51-year-old Rochester Hills man after he drove through a blinking red light in the area of 24 Mile and Hayes roads. In a preliminary blood test, the man registered a .170 blood alcohol content. He was arrested for operating while under the influence, first offense, and disobeying a traffic signal. He was taken to the Macomb County Jail and issued a $100 bond. His vehicle was impounded.

Domestic Violence

On Sept. 1 at approximately 4:15 a.m. in the 46000 block of Westminister Drive in Macomb Township, sheriff’s deputies responded to a complaint of domestic assault and battery. A Macomb woman reported to police that her boyfriend, a 32-year-old Macomb Township man, dragged her out of bed. She said he proceeded to kick her in the legs and back and push her to the floor with his arm across her throat. The man was arrested for domestic violence assault and taken to the Macomb County Jail.

On Aug. 28 at approximately 9:30 a.m., sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of domestic violence in the 48000 block of Farah Drive in Macomb Township. Following interviews with the two 18-year-old victims of the assault, sheriff’s deputies arrested a 46-year-old Macomb man on one charge of domestic violence assault. The man was transported to the Macomb County Jail.

On Aug. 28 at approximately 8:30 p.m., sheriff’s deputies responded to the 15000 block of Nathan Drive in Macomb Township on the report of a domestic assault in progress. Following interviews with witnesses and the 48-year-old victim, deputies arrested a 22-year-old Macomb Township man on one charge domestic violence assault. A preliminary blood test reported the man had a .10 blood alcohol content. He was transported to the Macomb County Jail.

On Aug. 26 at approximately 8:07 p.m., sheriff’s deputies responded to a home in the 21000 block of Laporte Circle in Macomb Township. A 20-year-old Macomb Township man reported to police that his brother-in-law, a 39-year-old Macomb Township man, threatened to stab him in the neck with a pair of scissors if he didn’t leave the house. The men engaged in a verbal argument and the 20-year-old man said the 39-year-old man pushed him twice before threatening him with the scissors. Deputies arrested the 39-year-old man on a charge of felonious assault and transported him to the Macomb County Jail.
